Annual Fee Update

2 for 1 was an overwhelming success that allowed us to re-new our membership with lots of new people.


Fee Structure Changes:

- Individual/Family Membership - $30

<drop price to $30 from $60 and merge with senior membership>

- Student - $15 (Open to all students - young to advanced research studies)

<Replaces Junior>

- Associations - $75 (Access to 5 webinar seats)

<Give access to webinar to up to 5 of their members>

- Business - $100

<No change>

- Benefactor - $500 (75% research fund & 25% Mini-Conference Speaker fees)

<Let's tell them how the money will be allocated>


Other Actions:

- Give extra year to those who paid $60 for 2022

WAS - Who are our members? We are one diverse group!!

  • Currently at 295 from 44 states, provinces and territories across US and Canada + New Zealand

  • Year of experience 5 to 15 years (50% of members) with 25% from 0 to 5 and 25% from 16 to 30+ years

  • Median Colonies of 7 with some with up to 3000+ colonies

  • Association & Business Members at 7

  • Junior/Student 1

Our focus this year will be to grow our base of young people/students and the number of associations. This will help bring together a wider variety of people.


We’ve grown by 151 new members in the last 90 days!

The Western Apicultural Society (WAS) is a non-profit, educational, beekeeping organization founded in 1978 for the benefit and enjoyment of all beekeepers in western North America. Membership is encouraged from anywhere in the world. However, the organization is specifically designed to meet the educational needs of beekeepers from the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming as well as the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the Yukon.
